INTRODUCTION TO IQAC
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is a body that plans, guides, and monitors quality assurance and quality enhancement activities in an institution. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) requires every accredited higher education institution to establish an IQAC.
AIM
- Develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of institution.
- Make significant and meaningful contribution in the post-accreditation phase.
OBJECTIVES
IQAC will facilitate / contribute
To a heightened level of clarity and focus in institutional functioning towards quality enhancement and facilitate internalization of the quality culture.
- To the enhancement and integration among the various activities of the institution and institutionalize many good practices.
- To provide a sound basis for decision making to improve institutional functioning.
- To act as a dynamic system for quality changes in the University.
- To better internal communication.
Here are some of the responsibilities of an IQAC:
- Quality enhancement: Ensuring that the institution’s academic and administrative performance is improved through a system of conscious, consistent, and catalytic action
- Quality assurance: Ensuring that the institution’s academic, administrative, and financial tasks are performed efficiently, timely, and progressively
- Quality benchmarks: Setting quality benchmarks and creating parameters to achieve academic and non-academic learning goals
- Student-centric environment: Creating a student-centric teaching-learning environment
- Feedback: Considering feedback from students, faculty, and parents for best practices
- Workshops and seminars: Organizing workshops and seminars to promote quality education
- Documentation: Documenting all activities in chronological order and keeping track of improvements
- MIS reports: Preparing accurate MIS reports for NBA/NAAC
